Medicine In Egypt
The most common problems in the 'hospitals' of Egypt were lung, intestines, eye and bone diseases. The most common cures for these were often homeade remedies made with rocks, animals, plants, herbs, or even spices. Some perscriptions go as far as crocodile dung and sour milk. Egyptians were also the first to mend broken bones, but they also dressed wounds and made ointments to prevent infections. Egypitians knew all of this from special temples where they could read what their precessors did to cure illness.
Egyptians made many advances in personal hygeine. One of the most important that we still use today, is washing your hands and face before and after meals. The Egyptians were also very advanced in anatomy and understood how things in the body worked together to create life. One of the most common egyptian cures was to use castor oil to help digestion when a person was having trouble with that. The Egyptians also established the first pregnancy test.
